The Man From U.N.C.L.E. episode guide returns

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. episode guide is back online.

Oct. 18, 2014: The site, which began Dec. 1, 1996, had been housed at the former Her Majesty’s Secret Servant website starting in 2008. But when Her Majesty’s Secret Servant ceased operations in 2014 the U.N.C.L.E. episode guide was shut down as well.

But it’s a new day and the episode guide has a new home. Here you’ll find detailed reviews of all 105 episodes of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. More work is needed here, including restoring additional pages and getting some art. But we wanted to get at least some of the site’s content up.

UPDATES FEBRUARY/MARCH 2015:  The Never Made U.N.C.L.E.s page has been expanded to add descriptions of the never-made Matthew Vaughn movie, circa 2005, and the never-made Ember Entertainment cable-TV project. (Feb. 6): The U.N.C.L.E./James Bond page expanded to include entries for Solo (U.N.C.L.E. original pilot title and name of a 2013 007 novel) and Robert Short. Season One (1964-65): Shown in black-and-white, the first season is considered by fans to be the best. Sam Rolfe, who scripted the pilot, was aboard as producer. Key scripts were written by Alan Caillou, Albert Aley and Dean Hargrove.

Season Two (1965-66): U.N.C.L.E. switches to color and also enjoys its highest ratings. Sam Rolfe departed and the producer slot became a revolving door, with three different men filling the job at various times. The season began with the first two-part story.

Season Three (1966-67): Under producer Boris ingster, the show goes in a much lighter direction, including at one point a dancing gorilla.

Season Four (1967-68): U.N.C.L.E. brings in a new producer, Anthony Spinner, to make things more serious. But Spinner, a veteran of Quinn Martin shows, in trying to bring in more gravitas may have gone too far in the eyes of some fans. The show gets canceled mid-season.

The Return Of The Man From U.N.C.L.E.: The Fifteen Years Later Affair: 15 years after the original series was canceled, Robert Vaughn and David McCallum again played Solo and Kuryakin. The end product, however, was a bit of a mixed bag.

The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. (1966-67): NBC wanted a spinoff series featuring a woman U.N.C.L.E. agent. But the effort only lasted one season — and had an episode that was arguably worse than the dancing gorilla in Man’s third season.

U.N.C.L.E. TIES WITH JAMES BOND 007: From Ian Fleming to actor Henry Cavill, there have been quite a few.

U.N.C.L.E. wannabes:  Episodes of various series that are related to The Man From U.N.C.L.E., including the Say U.N.C.L.E. episode of The A-Team and the “Discards” episode of Diagnosis Murder as well as David McCallum playing Illya Kuryakin on Hullabaloo.
